The Samsung air conditioner is no longer just a home appliance for the summer – in addition to cooling capabilities, air conditioners today also come with air purification and dehumidification functionalities. However, knowing that your air conditioner is working around the clock can naturally lead to concerns about high electricity bills and your home’s environmental footprint.
Understanding that this is a real worry for many consumers, Samsung Electronics works tirelessly to make its appliances more energy efficient. For example, Samsung’s Wind-Free™ Air Conditioner features Digital Inverter Boost technology, an energy-saving innovation that reduces the device’s energy consumption by up to 73% compared to traditional fixed-speed type air conditioners.1
Furthermore, the Wind-Free™ Air Conditioner’s Wind-Free™ Mode can even cut energy consumption by 77% compared to the unit’s Fast Cooling Mode, even while at maximum output. Samsung Newsroom sat down with two Samsung engineers to learn more about the Wind-Free™ Air Conditioner and its revolutionary energy-saving technologies.
Reducing Electricity Usage with Digital Inverter Boost Technology
To help users save energy, Samsung adopted an inverter compressor – Digital Inverter Boost technology – that can regulate its own revolutions per minute (RPM) to maintain its energy use at maximum efficiency.
A Samsung AR3000 fixed-speed air conditioner will run at maximum speed until the desired temperature is reached and will then turn off once this is achieved. If the temperature exceeds this desired rate after the first round of cooling, it will switch on again at maximum output to lower the temperature. This repeated on-and-off process is incredibly energy-intensive and creates a fluctuation in room temperature as cooling is turned on and off again.
The Samsung AR4500 Inverter technology is more efficient since it simply slows down once the desired temperature is achieved and then only must speed up slightly once the temperature goes up again, meaning that energy consumption is reduced by up to 73%. This process results in less temperature fluctuation, meaning that users can enjoy a consistently comfortable room temperature.
“The bigger the difference between the room temperature and the desired temperature, the higher the amount of energy that is consumed when the air conditioner is turned on. When we compare the accumulated amount of consumed electricity between the fixed-speed compressor and the inverter compressor, the inverter type is notably more economical than the fixed-speed type since the latter turns on and off repetitively.”
We recommend getting the most out of your Samsung aircon. “The most efficient way to use an air conditioner equipped with an inverter compressor is to set the desired temperature at between 24°C and 25°C and to keep it on continuously when using it. Samsung’s inverter technology performs powerfully and efficiently because the total flux of its motor is maximized, and the motor has multiple poles. Furthermore, this technology reduces vibration and noise for user peace of mind.”
Always Enjoying a Comfortable Breeze
Often with air conditioners, once the temperature in a room has been reduced to the desired temperature, the continued airflow from the indoor unit can become uncomfortably chilling. Continuous, direct exposure to cold wind can dry out the respiratory system and affect user’s health, making them more sensitive to illnesses. Homes with young children or family members who suffer from respiratory symptoms may be wary about keeping their air conditioner on continuously.
Another unique feature of Samsung’s Wind-Free™ air conditioner is its bigger inlet and fan which allow for more air to be drawn in at once. “The air conditioner’s fan, the diameter of which is 15% bigger than conventional fans, along with the optimized width and angle of the outlet, means that energy consumption is reduced by 10%. Furthermore, air is cooled down to the desired temperature even faster.
The air conditioner’s inverter technology and its Wind-Free™ technology work together in a synergy that creates even higher efficiency when it comes to bring users comfort at home. Once the desired room temperature is reached with the air conditioner’s powerful and fast cooling technology, the unit switches to Wind-Free™ Mode, slowing down the speed of the compressor while keeping the air cool, comfortable, and quiet while minimizing electricity consumption.
Pros and Cons
Before we move on to the brand’s various lines and series, let’s talk a little about what Samsung air conditioners are like in general. Indeed, every series and every product are different. However, when the same brand is making everything, there are bound to be some consistent similarities. So, here are a few regular pros and cons of Samsung air conditioners:
The Good
Aesthetics and Design
The aesthetics are to die for! All Samsung air conditioners have a beautiful, modern, and chic look and build. They have a very neutral but classy design, and they look great in any interior. The more expensive, high-end Samsung air conditioners have a crystal, glossy finish, and a beautiful yet exciting curved design. The AC looks phenomenal and gives you royal vibes. Who doesn’t want that?
Performance
Samsung ACs are famous for their triangular wind-free design. Plus, their operating is stabilizer-free and ranges from 80-450 Hz. Both features are the best in the business. In fact, many other manufacturing brands are looking to incorporate it into their products as well. These Samsung ACs perform well, which is why their buyer’s community only tends to increase with time.
Certification and Safety
Samsung air conditioner complies with reputable institute standards such as AHRI and Intertek. These certifications increase the brand’s credibility. Moreover, the latest models by Samsung are known to pass the SWAAT test.
Product Warranty
All Samsung air conditioner units come with a warranty time of 10 whole years! This warranty means that if you face any technical or mechanical issues with manufacturing the product within this timeframe, the company will entertain you. The brand will take responsibility for it, and you won’t have to spend a penny more on the product. Isn’t that amazing?
The Bad
While most of us love a Samsung air conditioner, their aircon units have some cons too. Keep these drawbacks in mind when you buy one of these appliances:
Limited Aircon Unit Options
Samsung is known to manufacture and give priority to split air conditioners in the market. So, if you’re looking for a Windows AC in a Samsung store, expect to be disappointed. However, after eight years of no window air conditioners, Samsung says they’ll bring them back soon.
Scarce Copper Condenser
Copper condensers do a better job at transferring warmth and coolness. They cool down a room faster than aluminium condensers, so they’re a significant preference and priority for many buyers. However, older Samsung air conditioners will disappoint you in this case; they don’t have it. Only the newer versions from 2020 onwards have a copper condenser.
Price Range Is a Bit Expensive
This one is a bit controversial. While many consumers think that Samsung air conditioner is a very inclusive brand, some argue that only the upper class can afford good-quality Samsung air conditioners. They say that even though the brand has excellent low-end options, the good air conditioner ones aren’t exactly affordable for all.
But at Aircon Hyper our Samsung Air conditioners are affordable and we offer a professional installation service nationwide.
Some of the most effective, convenient, and usable features in the latest Samsung wall-mounted air conditioners are:

Good-sleep Mode – If you switch to this mode, the appliance automatically adjusts the fan speed and airflow direction. This way, it provides you an ideal sleeping environment, and you can change its settings to customize it.
Automatic Mode – On the automatic mode, the air conditioner automatically selects ideal settings for your current environment.
Demand Response Enabled Device (DRED) – The DRED system automatically limits your AC’s power consumption during the peak hours of usage. This time could be during the day or night, but you don’t have to worry about it since Samsung will take care of it independently.
These wall-mounted air conditioners also come in various sizes. So, you can choose one for small rooms or bigger offices depending on what you need.
